Another dry Dublin evening with cool temperatures for mid-July. Perfect conditions for a game on the pristine Tallaght Stadium pitch.
ATTENDANCE
There are now over 6,000 tickets sold for the game. 7,216 was the biggest European attendance in Tallaght. That was last year's Champions League game with Briedablik.
NO LONGER COUNTER ATTACK
Shamrock Rovers produced a smart tactical display in Iceland last week, keeping the hosts scoreless.
It could have been so much better for the Hoops as Johnny Kenny missed two massive chances on the breakaway.
Given Kenny's good form in front of goal this year, it was a major surprise he didn't take at least one.
At the other end Sean Hoare put his body on the line and was magnificent.
The visitors had to deal with 16 corners against an opposition which proved slightly one-dimensional at times.
Crosses into the box were constantly dealt with, Víkingur were also guilty of taking too much out of the ball and allowing the Hoops to break up attacks.
It wil be fascinating to see how the approaches changes back in Dublin.
Víkingur were certainly able to move the ball but for all their dominance, creating space and clear cut chances proved difficult.
Apart from seeing the woodwork hit early in the first half, Stephen Bradley felt there was no major danger for his side.
