Harry Maguire was stripped of the Manchester United captaincy this summer, with Erik ten Hag handing the armband to Bruno Fernandes on a permanent basis.
Fernandes was no stranger to the role having worn the armband during Maguire's many absences last season, guiding United to a third-place finish and a Carabao Cup triumph - but his first season as permanent captain hasn't started so promisingly.

It could be argued this sets a bad example for his colleagues and so could be a factor in the Reds' poor form. Ex-United captain Roy Keane slammed Fernandes when analysing the defeat, saying: "The first thing I would do is take the captaincy off him.
