Legend Joe Harper has demanded Aberdeen start the bidding for Ross McCrorie at £4m amid reported interest from Bristol City.
The Ashton Gate side are in advanced talks with Dons to seal a £2million summer move for their vice-captain, but the move has left Aberdeen fans and pundits bemused that the versatile midfielder would leave a club chasing third sport in the Scottish Premiership and European football for a struggling side in England’s second tier.
But Harper has pointed fingers at the club higher-ups. The Pittodrie hero reckons that the board would be allowing a vital player to leave for £2m with three years left to run on his current deal, insisting that the club should be holding out for a bigger fee with the summer window rapidly approaching.
Writing for the Press and Journal, Harper said: "It would be extremely disappointing if Aberdeen accept just £2m for Ross McCrorie. "The versatile defender-midfielder is worth at least double that.
