Hamilton Accies have completed the signing of midfielder Ben Williamson from Rangers on a permanent deal. The 22-year-old was at Partick Thistle for the first half of the season until the start of this month, and has now penned an 18-month contract at New Douglas Park, which will tie him to Accies until Summer 2025.

Williamson is a product of the Ibrox youth academy and brings plenty of SPFL experience to the League One side, having enjoyed loan spells at Arbroath, Livingston, Raith Rovers and Dundee.

He goes straight into the squad for Saturday's League One trip to Stirling Albion, which is being shown live on BBC Alba. Hamilton's director of football Gerry Strain told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "I’m really delighted to have finally gotten the deal for Ben concluded and over the line. "Ben was actually one of the key players I was pursuing in the Summer as John Rankin was planning the initial stages of our rebuild to not only the playing staff, but also the identity of and culture within the club. "Ben’s talent and attributes match perfectly with this exciting vision and our planned styles of play. "This deal itself was slightly more complex than normal due to there being three clubs involved and various agreements originally in place [with Partick Thistle]. "Additional negotiations with the parent club, Rangers, were also necessary for us at the back end, which led to a further slight delay in concluding matters. "I’d really like to take this opportunity to thank Creag Robertson of Rangers and Kris Doolan of Partick Thistle for their communication, help and support in bringing all of the moving parts of this deal and negotiations together, allowing us to have Ben added to our playing staff in time for our first
