Premier League: Brighton Boss Says He's 'Already Forgotten' Moises Caicedo

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi insisted he'd "already forgotten" about midfielder Moises Caicedo after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed the Reds had reached an agreement for the Ecuador international.

The Seagulls have accepted a reported British record fee of 110 million pounds ($140 million, 127 million euros) for the 21-year-old.

However, Sky Sports reported Caicedo is still to decide his future, with Chelsea also interested. Brighton have flourished while operating a business model that has seen the south coast sign relative unknowns only to then sell them on for huge fees.

Argentina World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister moved to Anfield earlier in the current transfer window, while Arsenal pair Ben White and Leandro Trossard, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella and Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma have also left south coast side Brighton for 'bigger' Premier League clubs during the past two years.

Liverpool shrugged off a red card for Alexis Mac Allister on his Anfield debut to beat Bournemouth 3-1 on Saturday as Brighton thrashed Wolves 4-1 to go top of the Premier League. Bournemouth had lost 9-0 on their visit to Anfield a year ago but could not have wished for a better start. The Cherries had the ball in the net within seconds but Jaidon Anthony's tap-in was ruled out for offside. Trent Alexander-Arnold's move into a midfield role resulted in a strong finish to a disappointing season for Liverpool last term, but he was guilty of giving the ball away for Antoine Semenyo's opener after only three minutes.

Chelsea completed the signing of Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo on Monday for a reported Premier League record fee of up to 115 million pounds ($146 million). The Blues said the 21-year-old has agreed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with a club option for a further year, after Chelsea beat off competition from Liverpool for his signature. It is the second time Chelsea have broken the British transfer record in seven months after spending 107 million pounds on Enzo Fernandez in January.
The new Premier League season kicked off with plenty of talking points.
