Police issue update after motorcyclist injured in crash near IKEA

No arrests were made after a crash involving a motorcyclist in Ashton-under-Lyne, police have confirmed. The smash happened near IKEA on Oldham Road at around 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).

It involved a motorcycle and a car. The biker, a man, was rushed to hospital from the scene. No-one was arrested on the scene, the force spokesperson added.

According to the fire service, the woman driving the car was also taken to hospital. Pictures taken on Wednesday evening showed a large cordon in place along Oldham Road, with a number of police vehicles at the scene.

An air ambulance was sent to the incident and landed on the top floor of the nearby IKEA car park. One witness said: "I saw the emergency services turning up as I was dropping my daughter off at dance.
