Peter Leven has told St Johnstone that he will be remaining with Aberdeen. The Dons’ first-team coach was interviewed for the vacant managerial position last week. Record Sport understands Leven impressed and held positive talks but has decided to say with the Dons.

St Johnstone were informed of the 41-year-old’s decision over the weekend. Leven decided to remain at Aberdeen after holding talks with manager Jimmy Thelin and the Pittodrie hierarchy.

Thelin made it clear he wanted Leven to stay because he was a key member of his coaching staff. Aberdeen made it 12 wins out of 12 with their weekend win over Dundee.

Leven has been a big part in helping Thelin settle in seamlessly to his new job.He had been in charge last season and started the unbeaten league run where the Dons are now unbeaten for more than six months.
