Peter Schmeichel has suggested Manchester United aren't playing to Rasmus Hojlund's strengths. Hojlund is yet to make an appearance this season due to the hamstring injury he sustained on the United States pre-season tour but he could return this weekend.

The striker recently returned to individual training on grass at Carrington and Erik ten Hag hinted before the international break he could feature against Southampton.

United have missed Hojlund, who scored 16 goals in all competitions last term, in the opening weeks of the season and fans are looking forward to his return, but club legend Schmeichel believes Ten Hag might not be setting up his team to get the best out of him. "He is a fantastic talent.

The possibilities that lie within him are at the highest level," Schmeichel said in an interview with Norwegian sport magazine Tipsbladet. "Now Ruud van Nistelrooy came in and I spoke to him briefly.
