Nick Montgomery's old school Hibs attack with a twist is a throwback I'm on board with - Tam McManus
Not so long ago, it fell so far out of favour that the only boss playing four-four-two was Mike Bassett: England manager. Thankfully, going with two strikers up top is back in fashion and it looks the way forward for Nick Montgomery at Hibs.
I thought St Johnstone were fairly poor at the weekend but it came down to chances and I was so impressed with the Hibs front two of Adam Le Fondre and Dylan Vente.
And I’m really excited to see how this partnership develops. The pair looked good together in the European game against Luzern and now they have a manager who arrived with a reputation for favouring 4-4-2, so it looks like they are going to be a fixture.
It’s great to see as it wasn’t so long ago that formation seemed a thing of the past. You remember the famous pairs like Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole at Man United – but it seemed to die a death.
