Newcastle United could welcome Bruno Guimaraes and Callum Wilson back from injury when they face Fulham on Saturday afternoon, but Alexander Isak is a doubt, according to journalist Dean Jones. Eddie Howe will have been hopeful of having all three available for selection ahead of the weekend but the international break has claimed another casualty at St James’ Park.

According to The Telegraph, Isak is set to miss ‘several weeks’ of action after returning from international duty with Sweden with a lower leg injury.

The report adds that the problem is ‘not serious’ but will still take a number of weeks to recover from fully. Howe’s striking problems have been made worse by the news that Chris Wood was forced off in New Zealand’s 2-0 defeat to Australia with a suspected rib injury.

After full-time, he added that, when challenging for the ball, something ‘popped’ in his ribs, leading to pain when running and breathing.
