Newcastle United will likely move for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison again in the January transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones. The Magpies splashed more than £120 million on new signings in the summer but Eddie Howe could be ready to add more big names to his growing squad.

Newcastle pushed hard as they looked to sign the 25-year-old from Leicester following the end of last season. According to The Guardian, the Magpies saw multiple bids for Maddison rejected by the Foxes, with the largest reaching £50 million.

However, Newcastle refused to match Leicester’s £60 million valuation before the September 1 deadline, leaving the one-cap England international where he was.

But the North East giants are not giving up just yet with Football Insider reporting that they plan to submit another offer during the January window.
