Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson is “doing everything” at Dursley Park to get himself match fit for Eddie Howe’s side, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie. The 30-year-old striker has missed the last five games through an injury sustained at the end of August.
Wilson suffered a hamstring injury in Newcastle’s 3-3 Premier League draw with Manchester City at the end of August, and has been unable to feature for Howe’s side since.
The four-time England international was in contention to be in the matchday squad for the Tyneside club in their last Premier League fixture with Bournemouth, but the club opted to not risk him.
But the former Bournemouth man is expected to be in contention for the Magpies trip to Fulham on 1st October, with the striker telling the Footballer’s Football Podcast “Wilson’s back soon, you know!” And Downie believes that Wilson is “strong minded enough” to be fully focused on returning to action as quickly as possible.
