Police stopped over 50 vehicles driving along Bury New Road in one day after vowing to crack down on illegal behaviour in the area.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police's traffic division arrested two drivers and witnessed over 50 offences being committed by motorists in the area.
Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs along the stretch of road on Friday afternoon (March 3). In an update on Twitter, the force said: "Officers from GMP traffic arrested two drivers on suspicion driving under the influence of drinks/drugs on Bury New Road yesterday. "More than 50 offences were committed including 20 for not wearing a seatbelt and 14 for using a mobile phone." Police in the area have promised to crackdown on crime in the area, particularly focusing their efforts on illegal traders selling counterfeit goods.
