BREAKING: Bomb squad on scene and roads closed off after 'suspicious item' found in Oldham

Bomb disposal experts have been scrambled to a street in Oldham this afternoon following reports of a 'suspicious item'. Police said the item was found on Drake Close.

A cordon is in place on the street and on surrounding roads. People are being urged to avoid the area. A statement posted on the GMP Oldham Twitter page said: "#INCIDENT I Officers are at Drake Close, Oldham, after reports of a suspicious item being found and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are currently assessing the scene. This comes after 'suspicious items' were found on Sweetloves Lane in Bolton at around 8am this morning.
