Reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have moved back to the top of the pile following a hard fought 1-0 victory against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening at Loftus Versfeld.

Sundowns started the brighter of the two sides with a couple of chances in the opening 20 minutes, but they could not find the breakthrough.

However, their efforts were soon rewarded when the ball found Sphelele Mkhulise who guided the ball into the far corner to give his side the lead in the 28th minute.

Gallants thought they had found the equaliser in the 88th minute, but it was ruled out for offside and in the process spared the blushes of Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena and his men.
