Merseyside Police have confirmed that they have received a report of alleged criminal damage to the Manchester City team bus after Sunday's ill-tempered encounter with Liverpool.

A 1-0 win for Jurgen Klopp's side was marred by vile chanting from the away end and coins thrown at Pep Guardiola from the home fans, and while City privately condemned the actions of their supporters Liverpool were incensed there was nothing more public.

City bosses, meanwhile, had been fuming since Friday over Klopp's comments about City's spending that they thought were both inaccurate and unnecessary.

The bad blood continued after the Blues left the stadium, with City alleging that their team bus was struck on Anfield Road as they made their way home.
