Manchester United takeover latest as Sir Jim Ratcliffe provides update on bid

Manchester United bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe made a rare statement on the takeover process this week as the saga rumbles on. The Glazers have been mulling over bids for United for several months now.

In November, the American owners announced they were seeking strategic alternatives for the club which would include the possibility of a full sale.

However, progress has been slow in the months that have followed. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani was deemed to be the favourite recently but The Guardian claimed on Wednesday he was still awaiting acknowledgement of his fifth bid which was submitted four weeks ago.
