A club source described Casemiro as a 'high-value player' during the window and his wage demands were partly the reason for him staying.
There were no clubs willing to offer Casemiro a similar salary to his current contract and not even Saudi Arabian sides were tempted.
It was clear relatively early in the summer that United were preparing for the new season with Casemiro, although it seemed like asking for trouble not to sign a new midfielder.
