Cristiano Ronaldo netted his first goal of the season in Manchester United’s 2-0 Europa League win over Sheriff Tiraspol in his third start of the campaign.

His other five appearances have come from the substitute’s bench as he gets used to not being the first-choice pick at a club for the first time in his career.

It could be argued that his three starts have only come about as a result of injuries to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Ronaldo is considered behind Rashford in the pecking order, Erik ten Hag being rewarded for his choice with three goals in four games from the Englishman, all coming against top six rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.
