Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn has admitted that the German heavyweights 'briefly discussed' the possibility of signing Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo during the summer transfer window.
The Portugal captain, who will be hoping to bag a starting berth when United face Cypriot outfit Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League on Thursday evening, wanted to leave Old Trafford during the summer in pursuit of Champions League football.
United, however, quickly stepped in and made it clear that they were not prepared to sell the 37-year-old. Ronaldo missed almost all of United's pre-season preparations, missing the tour of Thailand and Australia completely because of 'personal reasons'.
He has made just one start in the Premier League so far this season and was left on the bench during Sunday's 6-3 hammering against Manchester City.
