Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made Bruno Fernandes his new captain. Harry Maguire confirmed last week that United boss Erik ten Hag had informed him of his decision to change the club's captain for the first time in three-and-a-half years.
Raphael Varane took on the role in a couple of pre-season outings so far, but Bruno Fernandes has now officially taken over from Maguire - with the Portugal international having worn the armband last season as the England defender struggled to hold down a place in the first team.
But, with other vastly experienced players at Ten Hag's disposal, a number of former United players have highlighted just how many leaders Ten Hag now has at his disposal.
Ex-United striker Andy Cole believes sang the praises of Fernandes and fellow midfielder Casemiro, while Denis Irwin and Bryan Robson agreed that Lisandro Martinez may have even been under consideration for the role too.
