Manchester United fans deliver verdict on David de Gea's exit

David de Gea's Manchester United departure was confirmed late last week and the majority of supporters surveyed by the Manchester Evening News believe it was the right decision.

De Gea's contract with United expired at the start of the month but confirmation that talks over a new deal would continue left his future up in the air.

He spent the weekend after his release in Menorca getting married. The 32-year-old officially confirmed his exit on Friday with an emotional statement on his social media, calling time on a 12-year career with the Reds. "Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings," he wrote. But his campaign was also littered with some excellent performances, reminding everyone of his quality as the Spaniard also landed the Premier League's Golden Glove award.
