Manchester United fans have hijacked David de Gea's playful comment to Bruno Fernandes with messages of support. The Spaniard has left United after 12 years with the club.

United opted against renewing De Gea's contract after months of negotiations and talks. It looked at one stage like De Gea would continue his journey at Old Trafford but reservations grew about his suitability to meet Erik ten Hag's demands.

United fans didn't get the chance to say goodbye to the long-serving goalkeeper and have taken to social media to send their message to him.

After Fernandes posted a picture on Instagram of him leaving for United's US tour, De Gea commented 'Guaperas!'. That roughly translates as 'gorgeous' or 'heart-throb', with De Gea clearly being lighthearted with his former team-mate.
