A Manchester United fan who chanted 'murderers' at Liverpool supporters is one of two people who have appeared in court and been sentenced after mocking disasters.
The cases arose after the two most recent clashes between the arch-rivals at Old Trafford and involved two supporters "who intended on being in the home end", Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
The first happened when the sides met in the FA Cup back in March., a game United went on to win 4-3. Tommy Jobling, 22, from Whitby in North Yorkshire, sent offensive messages through WhatsApp to a Liverpool fan that he knew from online gaming. He was arrested later that day after his messages were analysed, they added. The Manchester Evening News understands he was taunting the fan about Hillsborough through videos of chanting at the ground and voicemails.
