The new season was supposed to bring fresh beginnings. Instead, it has felt like more of the same for Manchester United. Over the first two matches of the new campaign, there has been a familiar feeling to the way in which Erik ten Hag's side has been carved open at the back and the number of chances they have squandered at the other end.
If not for some dreadful officiating against Wolves, they could well be winless across their opening two matches, and there is no guarantee of an upturn in fortunes with Nottingham Forest and Arsenal still to come before the international break.
