Manchester United could see David De Gea join Atletico Madrid if they succeed in tempting the Spanish giants into sanctioning Jan Oblak’s move to Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. The Red Devils were not afraid to splash the cash during the summer window, having parted with more than £200million, but it seems boss Erik ten Hag has already set his sights on adding further reinforcements.
According to French media outlet Jeunes Footeux, Manchester United have identified Oblak as a priority target and are willing to offer the goalkeeper a contract worth more than £16million-per-season.
The report suggests the Red Devils are looking to lure the 52-cap Slovenia international to the Premier League as ten Hag is unconvinced by De Gea, although Paris Saint-Germain are also showing an interest.
Oblak is facing an uncertain future at Atletico as he has entered the final 12 months of his £253,000-per-week contract, while the agreement includes a release clause worth just over £107million.
