A major UK airport has been evacuated with all flights suspended as police attend reports of a 'suspicious vehicle'. Birmingham Airport issued a statement on social media warning passengers not to travel to the airport.

Passengers are advised to NOT come to the airport at this time. The Airport’s social media channels will be updated as and when the situation changes." West Midlands Police said the airport was evacuated "following a report of suspicious vehicle".

In a post on X, the force wrote: "Birmingham Airport is currently being evacuated following a report of suspicious vehicle. This is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and staff." Birmingham Airport is the seventh busiest airport in the UK and is an operating base for airlines including easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair and TUI. Scroll down for live updates on this incident...
