Officers have taped off a busy junction in Whitefield after reports a man was killed in a collision. The Manchester Evening News understands the man was hit by a lorry at around 1pm this afternoon (March 15).
The incident took place at the junction of Bury New Road and Radcliffe New Road. Officers have been at the scene for several hours since the collision took place.
A tent has been been placed at the scene ahead next to a lorry which is inside the cordon. Bury New Road has been taped off between Elms Street and George Street since around 1.30pm. I just thought 'what the hell' and came out. "I didn't see much apart from the lorry on the bend, another lorry and a couple of cars." Janine's colleague, Michelle Morgan, added: "I've never seen it so busy." A number of residents spoke of their concern about the junction, with a mum telling the M.E.N.: "They fly round this corner.
