Maidstone United 2 Worthing 0 FA Trophy match report: Stones set up Notts County tie in Fourth Round
A freak goal from Ryan Galvin and a late clincher from Jack Barham sent Maidstone through in the FA Trophy. Galvin scored direct from a cross for a half-time lead against Worthing and Barham added an injury-time clincher to set up a trip to Notts County in Round Four.
Hakan Hayrettin had some thinking to do after Joe Ellul suffered an injury in the warm-up. Christie Pattisson came into the starting XI, with Roarie Deacon dropping into right-back and George Fowler moving across to cover Ellul at centre-half.
Maidstone looked reasonably comfortable against their National South opponents without creating much in a quiet first half, although Barham did plenty of running up top.
The visitors looked to get Lewis White away down the left, but didn’t test Stones keeper Dan Barden, who was making his home debut after joining on loan from Norwich.
