Traffic is building on a stretch of the M61 this morning due to a 'police incident'. The motorway has been shut both ways between junction eight for Chorley and junction six for Horwich.
Congestion is building up to the incident. A tweet posted by National Highways North West said: "Traffic has been temporarily STOPPED in both directions on the #M61 between J6 (#Aspull) and J8 (#Chorley) for a @LancsRoadPolice incident.
We will keep you updated." A further post said: "UPDATE - The #M61 is now CLOSED in both directions between J6 (#Aspull) and J8 (#Chorley) due to the ongoing @LancsRoadPolice incident."
