Leeds United have held discussions over a deal to sign Wolves attacker Hwang Hee-chan amid the huge transfer twist involving PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo on deadline day, sources have told GIVEMESPORT. Earlier in the summer it seemed as though Charles de Keteleare was the forward that the Yorkshire outfit really wanted to land, but the Belgian instead opted for a move to Italian giants AC Milan.
With Rodrigo starting the 2022/23 season in fine form and Patrick Bamford back involved after injury, it seemed as though bringing in a new player for the final third was less of a necessity than it might have been just a few weeks ago.
However, after netting five times in the Premier League in August, Rodrigo suffered a dislocated shoulder against Everton on Tuesday night which could leave him on the sidelines for a number of weeks.
Leeds turned to PSV attacker Gakpo on Wednesday with reports suggesting they were ready to fly him back to England on Thursday morning, before it was then said that the Dutch club had decided to keep the Netherlands international at Eindhoven, meaning Victor Orta now needs to look elsewhere.
