Jose Cifuentes seals Rangers transfer as Michael Beale lands new midfielder from LAFC on 4 year deal

Rangers have announced the signing of midfielder Jose Cifuentes who joins the club from LAFC on a four-year deal. Michael Beale revealed the 24-year-old Ecuador midfielder had agreed a pre-contract to move to Ibrox at the end of this year but the Light Blues boss was keen to bring that forward before the Premiership opener against Kilmarnock this weekend.

And Rangers negotiated a deal with LAFC to sign the engine room enforcer now. Cifuentes has been a long-time target and his social media activity has frequently pointed towards a move to Rangers.

He boosts the midfield options at Ibrox and will wear the No.15 shirt at his new club. He said: “I'm very excited to be here, I think this club is amazing. “When I spoke to Michael Beale, he told me about the project, what he wants here for the club, and he told me what he wants from me here so that’s why I joined.

I love his project and his vision for football.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
