Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Sandeep Sharma are the four players who will likely be retained by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

These retentions will leave the 2008 champions with two right-to-match (RTM) card options at the upcoming mega auction. All four players mentioned above (Samson, Jaiswal, Parag and Sandeep) had an exceptional season this year as they delivered fine contributions for their side.

The Rajasthan skipper, Samson scored 531 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.27 and at a strike rate of 153.47, with three half-centuries.

His best score in the league was 82*. In 16 matches in the 2024 season for RR, Jaiswal has scored 225 runs at an average of 32.14 and a strike rate of 157.34, with a fifty and a century each.

IPL 2025 Retention Live Updates: The D Day is finally here as the retentions for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be announced. Cricket fans around the world are eagerly waiting to know the names which have been retained by the franchises, ahead of the mega auction.
Rishabh Pant, the country's No.1 wicketkeeper-batter, is all set to enter the IPL 2025 auction, according to a report. Ahead of the IPL 2025 retention deadline day on October 31,  it has been claimed that Rishabh Pant won't be retained by his franchise Delhi Capitals. Pant, after recovering from a major accident, made a return to the IPL last season. He has been a consistent feature in the Indian cricket team as well. The report, however, said that DC management was not convinced about the leadership qualities of Pant in T20.
While all Indian Premier League sides enjoy massive fan following, there are some which enjoy extra special status. Like Mumbai Indians. Like Chennai Super Kings. So naturally, the focus is more on these teams ahead of the IPL 2025 retentions. The deadline to release the list is October 31. The official broadcasters will do a show on it from 4:30 PM IST but several reports have already started predicting the likely retentions. Since the IPL 2025 will see a mega auction. It is natural that several big names will be  released.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has decided to take a pay cut and will be the second player retained by the IPL franchise ahead of the October 31 deadline. Gill led Titans for the first time this season and both he and the management are now keen to retain the core group of players. The first retention for the franchise would be star spinner Rashid Khan, followed by Gill, Sai Sudharsan and two uncapped players in Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan.
Of all the big names, that several reports have claimed will not be in the IPL 2025 retention list - KL Rahul is probably the most senior India player. KL Rahul is not only a wicketkeeper-batter but was also the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants in the last couple of seasons. In the past, Rahul has led Punjab Kings also. While his form in international cricket has dwindled a bit, KL rahul remains a great asset.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 retention deadline is only hours away as the 10 franchises look to finalise the list of players they wish to keep ahead of the mega auction. A maximum of 6 players can be retained by each franchise, including one uncapped player. But, there remain certain rules that each franchise has to follow. The price bifurcation, announced by the IPL Governing Council, has made retention a tricky task for most franchises. Those who were willing to keep hold of majority of their players, don't want to put a big dent in the purse. Those who were willing to let go of most of the players, are contemplating whether to make the most of certain loopholes that exist in the rulebook.
