Manchester United fans couldn't help but get excited after Erik ten Hag was seen briefly holding a green and gold scarf following the Reds' win over Aston Villa.
United secured a 1-0 win over Villa on Sunday, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal of the game in the 39th minute. The win saw Ten Hag's side move another step closer to securing Champions League football for next season.
The Reds now sit two points behind third-placed Newcastle with a game in hand. As Ten Hag headed towards the Old Trafford tunnel after the full-time whistle, he stopped to pick up a green and gold scarf that a Reds fan had thrown in his direction.
While it appeared the Dutchman was simply returning the scarf, it didn't stop supporters reacting to it on social media. ALSO READ: Manchester United vs Aston Villa RECAP United fans wear the green and gold scarves in protest against the Glazer family.
