Australia boss Graham Arnold has joked he was waiting on a call from Rangers before they decided to appoint Michael Beale. Arnold led the the Socceroos to a thrilling run to the last 16 of the World Cup in Qatar leading to speculation ramping up that a club in Europe could make their move to land the boss.
However, he opted to pledge his future to the Oz national side and will lead Australia into the Asian Cup in 2024 - with the boss targeting another World Cup appearance in 2026 when the tournament takes place in North America.
The former Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners gaffer has admitted he would consider a return to club management - while heaping plaudits on Ange Postecoglou's success at club level and with Celtic.
Speaking on the 'Sacked in the Morning' podcast, Arnold was asked if he had thought about returning to a club job and quipped about facing off with Postecoglou: "I was hoping Glasgow Rangers would come in. "They were looking for a manager at the time (before he signed the new deal).
