Scott McTominay and three other Manchester United teammates have said Sunday’s battle with Liverpool was a “tough” contest and praised the travelling fans for their support during the match.

The goalless draw is United’s first point away at a ‘big six’ club this season and means Andre Onana is joint-top of the Premier League clean sheet chart with six.

The Reds still languish six points behind the top four, though, ahead of the trip to West Ham on Saturday. McTominay said his side were “disappointed” not to have taken more away from Anfield in spite of their 31% possession.

The Scot captained the team in the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who was suspended for the match after picking up five yellow cards.
