Four Manchester United players all say same thing about Liverpool FC draw

Scott McTominay and three other Manchester United teammates have said Sunday’s battle with Liverpool was a “tough” contest and praised the travelling fans for their support during the match.

The goalless draw is United’s first point away at a ‘big six’ club this season and means Andre Onana is joint-top of the Premier League clean sheet chart with six. The Reds still languish six points behind the top four, though, ahead of the trip to West Ham on Saturday.

McTominay said his side were “disappointed” not to have taken more away from Anfield in spite of their 31% possession. The Scot captained the team in the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who was suspended for the match after picking up five yellow cards.

Taking to Instagram after the game, McTominay wrote: “Tough fight, but so so proud to captain the team today. Your support in the away end kept us going.” His thoughts were echoed by Rasmus Hojlund, who had United’s best chance of the game.

A quick transition during the second half saw him fire a shot at Alisson from inside the box at close range, although couldn’t squeeze the ball past the goalkeeper. The Dane is now goalless in 13 Premier League matches.

After full-time, he wrote on social media: “Tough game today. We knew It was gonna be hard. Thanks to the travelling fans.” He expectedly found chances hard to come by while Sofyan Amrabat had a busy first opening 15 minutes.
