Manager Sammy Moore hopes Faversham’s new-look squad can draw inspiration from Chatham’s back-to-back-promotions. The Lilywhites have built a mouthwatering team this summer as they aim to win Southern Counties East Premier Division promotion at the first attempt.

While Town were relegated from Step 4, Kevin Hake’s Chats won the league title. They narrowly missed out on the 2021/22 SCEFL crown to quadruple-winning Sheppey - despite racking up 100 points - but have swiftly earned Isthmian Premier promotion.

Moore, who has signed attacking midfielder Billy Bennett from Chats, said: “Just because we’re at Step 5, that doesn’t mean we cannot be a professional outfit. “Every player knows that.

That’s the reason they’ve been brought into the club. “The biggest inspiration we can look at is Chatham. They went up a league - and then went up again as champions. “Teams will probably look at Faversham and it will be their cup final. “But we will be ready for that.” Moore, a former midfielder in the Football League with AFC Wimbledon, Leyton Orient and Stevenage, arrived in November with the club at the foot of the table.
