Ex Rangers star sensationally retires from football immediately after Champions League thrashing to former club Man City

Ex Rangers star Vladimir Weiss has stunned his club by immediately retiring from football after their latest Champions League defeat to Manchester City at the age of 34.

The Slovan Bratislava captain and son of the manager of the club played as Celtic romped to a 5-1 victory on the first game of the tournament.

And he also featured against his former club City for an hour as the English champions eased to a 4-0 win in Slovakia this week.

But he has reportedly told the club and teammates that he has decided to bow out from football altogether after the game. His father said: "Vladimir will make his own announcement in the next few days.
