Former captain Gary Neville described Manchester United's players as "unprofessional" in a scathing rant following their second-half capitulation in Sunday's 7-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

United, who had arrived at Anfield dreaming of completing a league double over their rivals, collapsed in a dramatic second half on Merseyside, conceding six times without reply.

They had fashioned some good openings in the first half and were unfortunate to go into the break 1-0 down, following Cody Gakpo's impressive finish.

However, following Darwin Nunez's header just two minutes after the restart, United had no answer for what followed. Gakpo netted his second to make it 3-0 before Mohamed Salah smashed a thunderous effort past David de Gea to get in on the act.
