Everton have explored the possibility of signing Harry Maguire on loan for the season, according to reports. The Toffees are keen to strengthen defensively, with Conor Coady's loan not being made permanent and Yerry Mina also leaving upon the expiration of his contract.

They have welcomed Jarrad Branthwaite back to Goodison Park, however, who spent last season at PSV. Although United are not actively pursuing an exit for Maguire, they would be open to an offer that suits them.

After initially valuing the 30-year-old at £50million, it is believed they would accept a bid of around £30m. However, according to Football Insider, they are discussing the possibility of a loan offer. There is no detail as to whether that deal would include an option or obligation to buy Maguire come the end of his loan spell.
