Manchester United fans believe Erik ten Hag is already the best manager the club has had since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. The legendary manager retired from the game following 27 remarkable years in charge at Old Trafford in 2013 after winning his final Premier League title.
However, his departure sent the club into a downward spiral that they are only now picking themselves out of after a decade.
David Moyes was handpicked by Ferguson to be his successor but it transpired to be a disastrous pick. It would have been hard for anyone to take the job but the former Everton boss was not up to the task and was sacked before his first season had even concluded.
Louis van Gaal was next and though there were improvements in results, silverware won and several moments of hilarity, the Dutchman's football was incredibly laborious and boring.
