[FILES] Henry NwosuChairman of Delta State Football Association (DFA), Kenneth Nwamuocha, has joined the call for more financial support for former Green Eagles midfielder, Henry Nwosu, who is currently in a sick bed at Asaba Specialist Hospital.
Nwosu, a gifted midfielder, was the youngest member of the Green Eagles’ squad that won the 1980 African Nations Cup. He scored Nigeria’s only goal at the Moscow ‘80 Olympics but is currently battling for survival at a hospital in the Delta State capital.Nwamuocha, who visited Nwosu yesterday, donated N100,000 cash to help him offset part of his medical bills.
The DFA boss told The Guardian soon after the visit that he would continue to support ex-internationals, who contributed their quota towards the growth and development of football while representing Nigeria.
Represented by a board member of DFA, Harrison Ocholor and the FA Secretary, Azuka Ogosi, Nwamuocha said Delta Football appreciates the contributions of Nwosu to the Green Eagles, adding that he remains an inspiration to generations of footballers.Apart from his N100,000 donation to assist Nwosu’s treatment, Nwamuocha called on Nigerians to join the financial support for the recovery of one of the greatest dribblers to come from the African continent.Responding, Nwosu appreciated the DFA and all Nigerians for their support since his health challenge started.
