After a poor start to the season, Inter Miami mounted an unprecedented comeback and finished the season in 6th place. This qualified them for the Eastern Conference playoffs.
A major factor behind their miraculous comeback was the form of Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain. The 34-year-old scored 14 goals in the last 16 games to lead his side into post-season competition.
Higuain announced a few weeks ago that this season would be his last, however, he showed no signs of showing down when Miami needed him most.
But New York City FC proved a bridge too far for the still fledgling outfit.
