Danny Murphy in epic Celtic gaffe as sneering pundit doesn't know his history with 'nonsensical' dig
Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy didn't know his Celtic history as he claimed a punter's point about bigging up the Lisbon Lions was "nonsensical".
It came after the pundit believed Manchester City winning the Treble this season would share joint first place with Sir Alex Ferguson's storied Manchester United side of 1999 who lifted the biggest honours.
Murphy – who appeared to be speaking about English sides only – irked one listener north of the border who reckoned he had shown a lack of respect for not bigging up Jock Stein's ultimate side who won a domestic Treble before adding the European Cup by defeating Inter Milan in 1967.
A miffed Murphy, speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "Sorry, not count to what, what did I apparently say?" And then he seized upon the question being read out to him by host Jim White and overlooked the first British team to lift the world's most illustrious club trophy.
