Crystal Palace have upped the ante in their pursuit of Conor Gallagher and ‘made an offer’ to seal the Chelsea star’s return to Selhurst Park, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs. The central midfielder spent last season on loan with Patrick Vieira’s side, but it appears he could head back to south London before Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

According to The Times, Palace have launched a £27million bid to seal Gallagher’s permanent return to Selhurst Park. The report suggests the Eagles have intensified their efforts to sign the four-cap England international, who has a close relationship with Vieira.

Vieira refused to comment on the links to Gallagher during his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Brentford tomorrow, although the Frenchman admitted he is ‘short of numbers’ and requires reinforcements.

Gallagher scored eight goals and registered a further five assists during a hugely successful loan spell with Palace last season.
