Chelsea star Conor Gallagher may profit from Thomas Tuchel’s Stamford Bridge sacking as he ‘really could suit’ successor Graham Potter, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay. Tuchel was axed last week, following a poor run of form at the start of the season, and the Blues’ hierarchy quickly appointed Potter after a successful reign at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Gallagher has made five appearances since returning to Chelsea after a season-long loan with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.
However, his outings have not passed without incident as he was sent off inside the opening half an hour of Chelsea’s win over Leicester City last month, leading to then-chief Tuchel admitting the central midfielder was ‘responsible’ for a ‘huge mistake’.
Eye-opening footage also emerged of Tuchel being left frustrated by Gallagher after he failed to make a forward pass during the first half of Chelsea’s win over West Ham United.
