Crystal Palace 'make offer' to sign £30m star at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace have upped the ante in their pursuit of Conor Gallagher and ‘made an offer’ to seal the Chelsea star’s return to Selhurst Park, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The central midfielder spent last season on loan with Patrick Vieira’s side, but it appears he could head back to south London before Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

According to The Times, Palace have launched a £27million bid to seal Gallagher’s permanent return to Selhurst Park.

The report suggests the Eagles have intensified their efforts to sign the four-cap England international, who has a close relationship with Vieira.

Vieira refused to comment on the links to Gallagher during his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Brentford tomorrow, although the Frenchman admitted he is ‘short of numbers’ and requires reinforcements.

Gallagher scored eight goals and registered a further five assists during a hugely successful loan spell with Palace last season.

Although he has started Chelsea’s last two fixtures, the 22-year-old was sent off inside the opening half an hour of their 2-1 win over Leicester City at the weekend.

Jacobs understands that Palace have tabled a bid for Gallagher which falls just shy of the £30million mark.

However, the journalist has warned that it may be difficult for the Eagles to secure a reunion unless the Chelsea star agitates for a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on Monday, Jacobs said: “There is lots of interest in Gallagher. Palace have made an offer for just under £30million and Everton have been tracking him as well.

“I think it’s going to be very difficult to get Conor Gallagher on a permanent deal unless the player actually pushes for it.”
