Chelsea could make a deadline day move to sign Leicester City star Youri Tielemans, according to journalist Simon Phillips. The Blues are believed to be in the market for a midfielder before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline and Tielemans is available with his contract running down.
Arsenal have been the frontrunners for Tielemans’ signature all summer, although the Gunners are now pursuing a deal for young Brazilian midfielder Danilo, which could pave the way for the Blues to swoop in.
Chelsea’s need for a midfielder comes following an injury to N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic’s recent fitness problems, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek reduced Thomas Tuchel’s central options even further after injuring his hamstring at Southampton.
According to Sky Sports, Leicester would be ‘prepared’ to sell him on Thursday, providing someone matches their £25m asking price.
