Manchester United prepared for Jarrad Branthwaite 'bidding war' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United reportedly need to prepare for a bidding war in the summer transfer window for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

The English defender has earned plenty of plaudits this season thanks to his impressive displays for the Toffees. Branthwaite has missed just three matches for the Merseyside club and the 21-year-old is being eyed up for a potential exit considering Everton's precarious Financial Fair Play (FFP) predicament.

According to GiveMeSport, United will face challenges from Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature. It is reported that Ange Postecoglou's side will be in the mix for his signature in the summer and Carlo Ancelotti's men have previously enquired about the defender.

However, United are thought to be in the driving seat thanks to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's aim to bring more homegrown players into the first-team squad. Branthwaite's nationality is believed to be a driving factor for the Reds which could push them into the lead for the defender.

Elsewhere, the Reds could face opposition from Chelsea if they wish to sign Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel. It is understood the Reds recently made contact with the 18-year-old's representatives as they aim to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford.

While no formal approach has been made as of yet, Tel is on the radar and the summer window could provide ample opportunity for United to pursue their man. However, according to journalist Simon Phillips, Mauricio Pochettino's team could also be in the conversation for Tel come pre-season.

While Bayern are faltering in the Bundesliga by their standards, Tel has enjoyed a good campaign bagging six goals
